I have been working on remodelling my master bathroom, and my big shop-vac had a lot of plaster dust in it. I should have taken preventive precautions and emptied it......
Last week I had the big door closed, the shop vac hooked up to the table saw, and my shiney clean black Aero Wagon inside (naturally - it was raining and 33 degrees F outside)). I was cutting away on my present wood project, and I realized that my safety glasses were starting to fog up. I took them off....wait a minute, there was no improvement. I glanced up and was stunned to see that the entire garage was smothered in a dense white fog.
The filter bag in the vacuum had ruptured and the motor was spewing out clouds of plaster dust. My car looked as if it had been downwind from Mt. St. Helens when it lost the top half-mile of mountain.
I swore for a while as I opened the garage door and aired out the surroundings using air from my air compressor. It took me 20 minutes to blow all the shelves and tools and car and floor clear of dust. Then I installed a new filter bag.
I am thankful that the bag did not let loose while I was vacuuming in the house!
Post your story. It does not have to be auto related - I described this one because my car was intimately involved.
