I love old land rovers myself. My friend in high school restored a 1962 Series 2A 88" from frame up. He got me started on the old land rovers and I still love them and I hope to get one in the next several years. As for the ignition it was located in the center of the dash. You had to insert the key, turn a switch, and then push a button to start the rover. That thing was slow as anything but man could it offroad. It would put anything made today minus the hummer, land rover, and range rover to shame offroad. Even then it would keep up or be a little better offroad than those vehicles.
