Having suffered a recent regulator runaway most of the instrument and switch lamps failed due to overvoltage on old bulbs. Saab said the switches and controls would have to be replaced, but I decided to attempt to relamp everything possible. I was 100% successful. Radio Shack bulb PN 272-1092C is a microbulb that works just fine. It is not exactly the same as the original but should last as long and burn a bit cooler ie, last longer. Illumination appears about the same Lumens. Most all require careful disassembly and a little soldering expertise.
Relamped all window switches, lockouts, sunroof and rear window demister. relamped AAC controller, clock, both seat heater switches, dash dimmer and fog light switches. Required 16 lamps- cost approximately 13.00 for parts including tax and about 3 hours work total.
The instrument cluster was another story. most of those bulbs came from Saab at a 28.00 cost and about a full days work to completely relamp the instruments. Relamped the computer EDU, all instrument lamps and all warning lamps (Just to be sure) because of age - also both turn indicators.
So now having done I will not hesitate to attemp relamping again.
While I was at it, I replaced the alarm LED which had gone some time ago Radio Shack PN 276-0041 ($1.19) is a direct replacement. Long lead goes to blue wire (+) Hope this info is useful.
