You can use a heat gun to get the stripes off. (you might be able to get away with a hair dryer). You'll then need a solvent of some sorts to get the sticky residue off.
Something that you can find at your local Kmart, etc is DeSolveIt citrus solution. That's what I used when I ran out of the autobody stuff I had from years back and was in a pinch.
