A friend of ours bought an 83 Espirit Turbo fairly cheap at an estate sell-off. The car was not abused, but not perfect and he knew that. I think he paid in the low teens and it had like 60k miles on it. Nice looking but burned a little oil. He is pretty handy but decided not to pull the engine himself (you have to do this to do belts I think) so takes it to a club member of ours in Birmingham MI who is the Serv Mgr for the only Lotus dealer in MI for service. He was quoted close to $10k to get ALL of his problems fixed, mainly an engine rebuild and some other stuff. Gulp. I guess they don't wear as well as a Saab and are not nearly as easy for the DIYers like us. I used to like them... not any more.
