I think you misunderstood... MJP said Jaguar used "Type R" first, which is mostly true... Jaguar has been using the "type" designation for years... they stopped using it in the '70s I think, but recall the C-type, D-type, E-type, and S-type of the '50s and beyond. Jaguar also has been using the "R" designation for quite some time to denote high-performance or racing models - even recently think of the XKR and XJR models. It just happens that when Jaguar mixed their two designations "type" and "R" it happens to sound like something Honda does... but remember, we're talking about an S-Type R and not an S Type-R which is a key differentiation - at least, I'm sure that's what Jaguar wants us to think!
