Some lag feeling can also come from the AUTO gearbox,
so it's harder to compare 2 AUTO cars.
In any case... the 1.8T engine is build much lighter
then the SAAB B235R engine used in the AERO, you
can't compare these 2 engines.
The SAAB engine is designed for 700 hours max output,
that does not seem like much... but how far can a SAAB
drive during 700 hours at 153Mph... it's quite a distance...
The AUDI/VW engine is designed for around 300 hours of
max power, which is enough to make the engine last 120000
miles at least during normal driving.

One good way to compare is to look at the SAAB AERO
and the 1.8T intercoolers, you will notice that the
SAAB intercooler is much much bigger.

Then the KKK turbo's used on the VW engine are not
great... they're small all don't last all too long...
the Mitsu Turbo's used on the AERO are excellent
(an opinion I don't have about Mitsu. cars)
In any case, the AERO has a neat thing called
altitude boost compensation, and fact is that the
only cars that have that are SAAB using the B235 engine
with the Mitsu. Turbo and the T7 electronics
VW and AUDI both admit that their Turbo cars lose
power at altitude, well the SAAB DOES NOT
and SAAB has proven that to the press.

Coolknight
