... from Hamburg take the A7 north towards Denmark. Cross the border and continue north, near Kolding take the E20 towards Odense and Copenhagen (København). The E20 takes you over a short toll-free bridge to Funen (Odense - home of Hans Christian Andersen), then over a very long bridge (cost about US$30) to Zealand and eventually Copenhagen. After Copenhagen the E20 takes you to yet another very long bridge (cost about US$30) and this takes you to Malmö ... and Sweden!
The quickest, though, is to take the A1 from Hamburg towards Lübeck continue on the B257 - I *think* that's the right number - to Puttgarden. Take the ferry to Rødby (there's one every 30 minutes, takes about 50 minutes to cross, cost about US$35), stay on the E47 north (about 150 km), near Copenhagen take the E20 towards Malmö (same story as above).
Remember that once you cross the border to Denmark/Sweden speed limits are just as repressive as in the US - and the fines even heavier!
Regards,
Caspar
