OT: How to clean laptop screen? Anything special?

Do I need some sort of special cloth or solution? I don't want to hurt my screen as the laptop is still pretty new but I've got some unidentified "gunk" on there. Smudges, etc... A lot of my classmates in law school developed (in a very short time) imprints from their keyboard on their screens. Really looks like crap. Anyway to avoid the same fate? I'm already keeping the foam slip that came with the laptop in between the screen and the keyboard when it's in the closed position.
Thanks,
Charlie
