...excitement in every game! I'm not going to predict the Canes will beat Detroit or Colorado, but they will certainly make it a fun series. And, as the New England Patriots and the Arizona Diamondbacks showed, it is not always the high-powered, highly-favored team that wins. They say defense wins championships and right now I like the way the Canes defense is playing. Good defense and a hot goaltender can make a big difference.
Oh, and an indication of how hockey fever is catching on in Raleigh, tickets for the games in Raleigh were scheduled to go on sale this morning at 8am. There were over 500 fans in line for tickets at the arena by 5:00am this morning, over 1,400 by 7:00am. Ticket sales via the internet were not supposed to open until 9:00am, but Ticketmaster started selling them at 8:00am also and by 8:20am all 3 games in Raleigh were SOLD OUT! Many of those people in line left with no tickets...including me. :-(
Another little news item on the character of our team. The Canes got back to Raleigh about 2:00am last night. Today is the last day of school here and a local elementary school in town was having a talent show today. One of Ron Francis' kids is a student there, so Ronnie showed up with the Prince of Wales trophy and let all the kids see it and touch it.
