I find it hard to believe that Saab actually intends on expanding sales as much as they do by cutting out half of its dealerships? Is the the left hand not talking to the right?

As has been mentioned, in many (hell MOST) of the US, a Saab dealer is hard enough to come by, and now they are goign to remove half of them. Scuttle butt has had it that in Maine they want three dealers only.. .huh? how does this arbitrary slicing of the pie help me? Saab might want to rethink this concept. Saabs are unique enough that I DO NOT want a caddy mechanic fixing it, not until they have proven themselves ome... heck it can be hard to get a good Saab mechanic the way it is? What, pray tell, does Saab expect the labor force in these dealerships to do? Didn't Saab spend a pile of money training all these people, and now, they are goign to flush half of them away?

Business is partially about goodwill. 600 dealerships of EX employees does not make good word of mouth.

I sent a letter to Saab about this, for whatever good it will do. Seems that they could do a good bit by figuring out why Saab are so popular in the regions they are and then using that to work on other markets. F'rinstance, you can't swing a fish in most of the NE wihtout seeing many Saabs.. why? perhaps that well established dealer network they are about to dismantle?

forest/trees.
