I'll probably wait to the last minute to get the most info on the '04 convertible, but likely will take an '03 when the time comes.
Several reasons why:
1. I've owned GM in the past, and since this is the 1st all-GM Saab, I can tell you that GM likes to have their customers do their beta-testing for them. Check the reliability records on GM cars, they always start low and work their way up.
2. You are right, I'll probably get a pretty good deal on the 2003. On top of that, I'm sure there will be loyalty money and the GM supplier discount.
3. On the negative side, take a look at the 2002 residual values. Right now they are at about 44% of MSRP on a three year lease and 36% on a four year lease. Much of that is due to the huge up front cash being given on 2002's. I see that trend continuing in 2003. The 2004's should start out with much higher residuals, making them cheaper to lease dollar for dollar. The question is, what will the '04's sell for? I doubt they will know by February.
Bottom line is that the new 9-3 conv. will still be there in 2006 when the new lease runs out. I just wish you could get the in dash 6-disc CD on the 2003's.
