Started planning my July 96 move from California to Georgia in Febuary. Checked out Ryder and U-haul, went with U-haul cause the floor is closer to the ground, Making it appear to be easier to drive (er load) "car parts" in. Mid Feb. went down and put a cash deposite down for their 24 foot truck with a diesel engine. Checked back once a month to confirm my reservation. Showed up July 1st to get my truck. Took the keys and went out front and went back in and asked where's my truck. Was taken back out and pointed to a 22 foot GAS engine worn out piece of crap. The dealer said take it or leave it, can offer you $50 off for the gas engine. This truck also had a capacity 3000 lbs less than what I reserved. I called the so called customer service and was told "You reserved a class of truck". B.S. Took my deposit back, Told them I work with a large group of people who move regular (military) and every one of them would hear my expiriance. Went to the Ryder place, they fortunatly had a cancelation on a BRAND NEW 24 foot truck with a diesel and an automatic. Gave em my cash, and was taken out for a safty inspection with the agent. U-haul= your trucks outside. Ryder= lets go look at your truck togeather. 10,300 lbs on board, pickup truck in tow, and down the road at 65-70 MPH with a tail wind.
