I know people who have shipped cars to Ireland, along with furniture as part of a permanent relocation. In every case, they put the cars into 40 foot shipping containers along with furniture, etc. I believe the 40' container was about $5+ k to ship to Europe. I do know somebody who sent a car to Europe to compete on the Manx Rally, and just drove-on/drove-off the boat, and that was less, but how he pulled that off I have no idea... it's not exactly Southhampton/Cherbourg.... While cars have been standardized across markets, there must be some US vs. Euro differences that could be potential PITAs from a service/maintenance viewpoint, and as one of your cars is still under warranty, you may lose the remainder... it would be probably be the call of SAAB France. I wouldn't think there would be such major issues with the legality of cars, because standards are the same in all EU countries, so importing the cars into France should not be too difficult. Are you definitely only going for 2 years? may be better to store them here... or sell them... does your company compensate you for the inconvenience with a relocation incentive? Talk to shipping companies in your area, at least they will give you an idea of what is involved.
