That is not a small leak, needing a 1q a month, ( depending on how many miles you drive a month certainly )

Head gaskets do go bad sometimes, creating a oil leak around the area where the timing chain runs.

My question though is how good of a Saab mechanic you are using?

Oil leaks are very easy to find on a Saab, if the mechanic knows his stuff.

Especially if it's a valve cover or headgasket that is leaking.

I have also seen several cracked valve covers, where they crack at the lower/rear bolt. that usually sends oil dripping down the passenger side of the engine.
