I grew up in Eugene Oregon. My parents are up in Seattle. Yes, it does rain a lot but that's how we keep it from getting overpopulated and it keeps the plants green. It is colder and wetter in Seattle than Portland. All those Californians that come up here go bonkers during the wintertime. Actually the climate is really changing. We have had a lot more sun than in the past and it has been warmer. Maybe global warming isn't so bad. I drove through Lubbock and Amirrillo Texas(mispelled) and it was very flat. I love the "dont mess with Texas" signs. The landscape was very barren but if that's what a person is use to how would they know. My grandparents came from Nebraska.
Good talking to you
