When I bought my 1999 93, I immedietly changed the motor oil and ATF to full synthetic. A week later, after reading several reports that said NOT to use synthetic ATF (only organic Dexron III). Reason, full synthetic's friction propertied (coefficient?) may cause more wear to the transmission. Since Saab recommends organic, part and Full Synthetic motor oils, but only makes one for sale in the US, I didn't feel it was a "conflict of interest."
I immediately drained and flushed the Mobil 1 ATF, and added plain Dexron III (Valvoline). Since I'll be changing it one a year or every $10K, I think it's a non-issue that I'm using organic.
