If studies showed that there were 450 engineers standing around drinking coffee, then, by all means, lay them off. Contrary to popular belief, GM's goal is not to ruin Saab. There goal is to BETTER SAAB. Obviously, if they were highly regarded engineers, we would have heard specific names mentioned in the article, not the generic title of "engineers". Take these articles as a grain of salt. As someone said once: "Don't believe the hype!". The press always blows things up to make themselves look more important than they actually are. 90% of the time the headline is bigger than the arcticle. This is all headline, common sense says that this is bull. When you read one of these articles, leave behind your emotion, and step back to think about how and why this could ever be truth. Most of the time, you'll see that it isn't. Most of these 'so-called' inside sources are clerks or janitors; important employees that are 'in the loop' would never put their company at risk to leak negative information. I wouldn't worry, if I were you.
Cheers,
Brian.
