Hi,
Trick to hybrid cars is to separate power generation from power usage.
This allows small engine to efficiently generate power which is later used
by electric motors.
Saab engines are already very efficient across a wide RPM range (just
look at the torque curve). So, a hybrid Saab will not have the fuel
economy advantage which was seen when Honda introduced a hybrid Civic.
In addition, regnerative braking can only stop an automobile about as
fast as automobile can accelerate. Such braking would be lacking for
application for sporty sedans.
thanks
Jae
