At theoretical dead center, the smaller sphere would not budge from the the fixed larger one. Something would have to motivate its initial velocity.
Two vectors at work would be ground-based gravity upon the small sphere, and acceleration of small sphere along the steepening decline of the larger sphere's surface. Once acceleration equals gravity, the smaller would 'escape' the larger. Under nominal intial velocity, acceleration is a function of gravity of rather than an independent force, escape can occur only when the equators of both are aligned - 90 from vert. However, the initial velocity of the smaller sphere will decrease this amount.
Mass of small sphere and level of gravitational force itelf are irrelevant, as both are expressed equally on relevant vectors.
