I painted my summer SPG rims with the Griots Garage kit, included a paint prep, zinc paint (base), a silver metalic finish and clear coat spray...enough to do 4 rims.
I sanded the rims down and followed all the steps provided with the kit. The results looked great for about two weeks...
Then to my horror I started noticing cracks were developing in the paint, and now they look horrible. Not sure what I did wrong as it took me DAYS to do this, I've painted before with no problems.
I had the rims on the convertible professionaly repainted, they look awesome over a year later...but cost a whole lot more!
So, unless they are really bad, I probably would not mess with it. Griots was kind enough to refund my money after I explained my disatrous results.
