Get a mouthgaurd! Rugby players don't get hurt because they don't wear pads or helmets! That sounds crazy, but it's true, without the heavy armour the hitter and the hittee are on a much more personal level. You can't use yourself as a weapon and there's no blocking, only tackling the guy with the ball. Scrums and rucks and a lot of open field tackling. Rough and tough yes, injury producing no. As an San Diego State Aztec and an Old Aztec my rugby days were fabulous. Great game, better parties. It's not a game without a keg and alot of singing afterward. The comraderie is what makes it so special. Every game includes a celebration of survival over song and suds with your opponent. Do you suppose the Raiders went singing and partying with the Bucs? And you'll learn what's so special about drinking and singing, a forgotten passtime in the states.
My wife says I still have a rugby mentality when I gouge or scratch myself or skin myself up by running into something.
And the women ruggers.........
