I've never even driven an Alfa. Dad had a green Fiat 128 for a while. It was the only Italian car.
'67, & '69 Fords while I was a 'new' teenage driver.
A phone pole ran out in front of the '69.
Then we got a '67 VW Squareback. The defroster never worked.
So we got a '71 Opel Kadett. The defroster was the ONLY thing that worked.
We replaced the Opel with a '72 Datsun 510. GREAT car.
Kept the 510, Dad got a '73 Fiat 128. That kept breaking clutch cables & wheel bearings.
When I was in college, I bought the 510 from Mom, so that's really MY first car.
Replaced it with a 2002tii, discovered they rust just as much as Datsuns...
Did I mention none of these was ever brand new? We could never afford cool cars. After my brothers & I moved out, my parents could suddenly afford a lot more stuff.
Oh yeah... Technically I never had a Saab. They're my wife's cars ('89 900 & '01 9³). But I get to drive the Saab whenever the gas tank's empty.
How's that for a long non-answer to your original question??
