Everyone on the board has a story of a good or bad sales experience. I would say that passion, product knowledge, and honesty are what I look for in a sales experience.
I don't like dealerships that have a dog and pony show between the salesperson and the manager. I prefer an organization that presents a reasonable offer in a clear and straightforward manner from the outset.
Both of my Saabs came from such dealerships, Midwestern Auto Group in Dublin, OH, and Just Saab in Cincinnati.
I would recommend a sport coat or suit for an interview, but a nice button down or golf shirt and a pair of khaki's is fine for the sales floor. Make sure you separate yourself from the white belt and shoes crowd.
Think of the average Saab customer. Someone who is likely to be well educated and appreciate value, innovation, and uniqueness. Think of what you appreciate when you buy anything of significance.
I would express a desire to provide quality service, before and after the sale, and a desire to be associated with the brand like Saab and its following. I bought my second Saab last week. After a pleasant purchase experience with a detailed explanation of the car, my salesman (Andrew Moon at MAG in Dublin) called a few days ago to make sure everything was to my satisfaction, and told me to call with any issue that might arise. I feel like I got a reasonable price, and I will be supported throughout my ownership experience. That defines what I'm looking for as a customer.
