Just a general thanks to Saab...
Last weekend a few of us drove up to Quebec for Carnaval, since Mondays snow forecast was for, well, snow. Nothing heavy. So we went, had a good time, and on 287 in NYS, thanks to poor plowing techniques (roads clear, salted for 4 lanes, then only one) I was in the unfortunate "unplowed" lane - with no warning. So, my 3 week old 9-3 and two friends tried out ESP - at maybe 50mph.I was hard on the ABS so it could have been less - it was the last speed I saw. Nailed the drift, it was well over the hood. The hazards came on by themselves when ESP kicked in, I steered hard left, and drove out of the snow bank- on the stock Pirelli 17's.
Got lots of waves and honking horns when we emerged from the bank; the car, amazingly, has NO DAMAGE!
I could have killed whoever was plowing after that. Imagine driving on clear roads, and with no warning, BAM! A pile of snow in the travel lane!
Anyway, thanks Saab! had I been in my Beetle, I still would be stuck in there.
