OCONUS stands for Outside the Continental United States. This includes Hawaii and Alaska. I bought my '92 9000S (please see my classified under "Parts") through SAAB's Diplomatic and Military Sale Program when I lived in Germany. If you were living OCONUS (he, he - couldn't stop myself), you got a pretty significant discount compared to State-side (i.e. CONUS :)) prices. Our 9000S had the ACC option, as well as the glass moon-roof, walnut dashboard, roof-top luggage carriers, rubber trunk mat, long-version mud-flaps, etc. ad naseum, and we paid 28K for it. I understand that there are programs available through SAAB here in the States where you can purchase the car through a dealer here, then SAAB flies you to Goteborg to pick the car up. You get to toodle around in it, and then drop it off at one of number of ports in Europe. SAAB then brings the car to the U.S., you pick it up, and then when you go to register it, you pay your portly sum on taxes during the registration fee bleed procedure at your local DMV. Purchasing in Europe, SAAB offered us train and ferry tickets for two from wherever we lived to Keil, Germany, then onto a ferry overnight to Goteborg, Sweden (return ferry trip included). Was a lot of fun - I bribed the International Delivery Center rep. with several bottles of Jack Daniels (this had been previously arranged through my salesman), the result of which was the rep. told me to "go shopping" for goodies at their Delivery Center. Bribery is truly an international currency.
