Well, they do! One gal in the office here is breaking her lease on her Toyota Land Crusher in month 18 to get a Lexus RX 300 - because it gets better gas mileage and has a nicer ride. Even though she may be charged a penalty of several thousand dollars. If you are not towing something (boat) or driving off road (rancher) what the hell do you need one for?

I had to rent a Blazer (business and weather reasons, it was snowing) for a two day trip to upstate NY last week and was shocked that 55 mph on the 5 hour highway trip yielded only 16.7 MPG, it dropped to 13 during our local driving. That was with three adults plus gear on board. It did not ride niceand was well put together though.
