I have no problems downloading music from the web. I think the main losers in this transaction are the large music publishers- not the artist. IMHO, the additional exposure an artist gets from the internet more than outweighs the losses from "copyright infringement" I think the music companies are upset because with the internet, a creative artist can get great exposure without access to the megabuck promotional capabilities of the major labels.
If you still feel bad about it you can always sample from the web and then purchase the CD (from your local indy shop, of course) or go and see them next time they're in town! I often buy CD's when I know I like the band and I don't care to spend the time to create my own CD from the web.
