Generally check for loose wires at the fuel selection valve. There should not be a common sending unit. Rather, at the fuel selection valve, there should be a switch that selects the proper sending unit depending on which tank you are drawing from. Note that my suggestion is based on a 1974 International Travelall and a 1993 Ford F350 diesel. So what do I know.
