Recall that, in burning fossil fuels, complete oxidation results in the production of water and carbon dioxide. Incomplete oxidation results in carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions, in addition to water and CO2, but in lesser amounts. The difference between water emissions from a fuel cell and from an internal combustion engine is that the exhaust with internal combustion is much hotter, so the water is vaporized. With fuel cells, they are warm while operating, but it will be more like dripping water on the pavement. Or, as bRAD said, distilled water on tap in your car. Personally, I'd rather dump the water overboard than drink it. By my calculations, assuming that liquid hydrogen is 6 pounds per gallon (this I'm not sure of - don't have my CRC), a 15 gallon tank of hydrogen should result in 201 gallons of water, assuming complete combustion (aka 1:1 stoichiometric ratio of H2 used to H2O produced). But spread out over 500 to 750 miles, depending on mpg, it's not like you're creating a lake.
