Garden City Saab is only a few minutes from my house, and close to a train station, so dropping off for service (I railroad into Manhattan for work) will be a snap. I always feel that buying from the same dealer at which you intend to service is a good idea, as I have historically gotten what I think is better treatment (priority/quality of loaner, flexibility in appointments, etc.) that way. Besides, I am buying on the supplier discount, so price is not an issue.
Personally, I think that the supplier discount may be part of the reason why the dealer isn't following through so quickly in tracking down a car (no need to sell the early inventory at anything below sticker), but if this were true, you think they would have moved at least one of their Arc’s in the last three weeks.
Currently, we have an Audi A6 2.7T and a BMW 325ic- the bimmer (a ’90 with only 80K miles but a few mechanical hiccups) will be dumped, assuming someone is interested in taking it off our hands.
