It all comes down to what people want and how most people sort cars in their minds. Myself...I sort cars into european, japanese, and american first, and then into sport, luxury, econobox, practical or whatever categories.
I used to love Nissan cars until the lean ugly years, now I love them again. Both myself and members of my family owned them for many years.
My first car was a Sapparo. It was a semi sporty, economy Japanese car. Even though it was badged a Plymouth.
Now I have Saab's. European practical sporty cars.
Trying to turn any of these other cars into anything else via marketing is perhaps an effort in futility. A caddy will ALWAYS be a north american luxury car...raising images of fat guys in vegas to me.
