This morning was the August meet at the Ypsi Garage, and once again I was the only Saab in attendance. Notable cars today included:
Three Morgans that all arrived individually rather than together as a club activity. When was the last time anyone saw three of these cars at a somewhat impromptu gathering?
One Cobra replica. these seem to be fairly common but is notable only because of the two entries below.
Two Cobra Daytona replicas. The fully enclosed coupe style cars, one with an ungodly large engine that burbled and bucked at idle like an old NASCAR Ford.
One Ford GT replica, the 1960's style. I was talking to the passenger who arrived with this car and he said they had a very circuitous route to the gathering. Just like a trucker with an oversized load, the entire route must be mapped in advance. Not to identify and avoid low bridges, but rather to avoid roads and intersections that exceed the ground clearance of this car.
Carl Sagan's fully restored Corvair Spyder. Carl was the original owner of this car and drove it for 8 years or so.
A fully restored 1974 Pantera with under 18K miles offered for sale at $69,500.
There is just something wrong about a Lamborghini without a stick shift. The Aventador which was there today just doesn't look right without a gear shifter in its console.
Someone arrived in a Citroen DS today. Car looks to be a good condition daily driver.
1954 Studebaker Coupe with a H.O. Ford V8 under the hood. Very professional modification.
And the lone Saab today, my Viggen.
These meets happen the first Saturday of each month. Interested car nuts from southern MI or N-W Ohio can email me for specifics. This is kept low key and quiet on purpose.
