"The new Buick's are better in ride quality, handling, braking, acceleration, and meet stringent emissions of today compared to Saab' of yore. "
I don't think statement is accurate in every aspect with respect to all Buick models - eg Encores and Enclaves. But most current autos be they cars SUVs and even some pu trucks are certainly more refined than Saabs.
I think Buick has done a really really good job changing their model mix and with their targeted advertising to attract buyers to their SUVs. Gone are the attempts to sell Veranos and Regals with the likes of Peyton Manning and Shaq. Ads I've seen target mostly female drivers appealing to their need to be seen in something more chic and upscale than other makes.
I recall seeing a new LeSabre a few months back, admittedly a nice looking car - then I saw the 80 something couple slowly exiting the vehicle and immediately my thinking shifted to - not the car for me.
