We just turned in our '18 MDX. Really liked it for what it was. Very comfortable, great size and good engine. I was looking to get a deal on a 2020, but didn't quite get to where we wanted for a left over, thus went elsewhere. Might come back in 3 years, as the new one looks great!
What I didn't like about the Acura: The double screens were annoying, but worked fined. Wasn't a fan of all the touch screen controls, but not sure how that compares to the Lexus. Lastly, the transmission was strange at launch, as you started to roll, the car would go slow, then surge making for some awkward green lights. Once moving, the engine and trans worked great.
From my experience, I would think the Lexus is a little more refined, while the Acura may be a little more fun to drive. Truly does handle like a car.
If anything, Acura hits a pricepoint that gets you a nice driving suv way below what a BMW or Merc would cost. We ended up with a VW Atlas, which is a completely different animal. Wife likes it, and its her car, and got a deal we couldn't pass up. So, we'll see how it goes.
Good luck.
