The car is doing very well. It has been t the dealer one for an error message that turned out to be nothing. I learned that in the future I will not bring it in, unless the message repeats and does not go away. I do 90% of my charging at home. The trips that we do take have DC charging stations close by. Starting later this year or early next year I will be able to use Tesla Superchargers with an adapter. The adapters cost around $200 currently. The one place that we do go, (on Cape Cod) that currently does not have any DC stations near by, now has new group of Tesla Superchargers less than 1/2 mile away. Last year I got up early one morning and drove to the nearby Level 2 charger and left the car charging there and walked back to where we were staying. The car was fully charged by lunch time.

So I have no regrets. I do have a second car, which is an ICE, that we use for the occasional trips where I do not want to look for chargers or they are very few chargers available. I did look at Teslas but was concerned about fit and finish and the closest service area is 90 miles away. To me driving a Tesla is like driving an iPad. I like the performance, looks and handling of the BMW. I also like the i4 because my other car is a 430i so the controls in both cars are very similar.

Finally, the cool thing about charging is that we get to meet different people and have had some very interesting conversations. Most chargers have food places near by so it makes for a good stop. I have a range of about 300 miles so when it is time to charge it is also time to get out and walk around. I still have a few more months of free Level 3 charging. Also there are several places that we go that have free Level 2 chargers if you pay for parking. Around here in Western Massachusetts people are pretty good about not parking at chargers if they are not charging. To me the most important thing is to have a home charger. Relying on public chargers as your sole source of charging can be problematic.

Good luck with your decision when the time comes.
