I do this sometimes just out of boredom and for fun. There's been numerous days where I've just gone out and test driven cars. Last couple have been the Volvo S60R (which I'm totally in love with right now), the Mercedes SL500, E55 AMG, CL55 AMG, Acura TL & RL, Audi RS6 and S4, Bimmer 545i and M3. Only one out of the bunch that I would consider is the S60R...it was just...perfect for me, size wise and budget wise...plus I loved the features, fit and feel, and especially the way it drove. All the others were more or less just for sh*ts and giggles as I would never buy one.

Scott is correct though...it's really the only way to get a feeling of what suits you best, and that is what the dealerships are there for.
