I was just out near Portland, OR for a few days on business (beautiful area, btw, plus the weather was infinitely better compared w/ MA). I rented a car from Dollar, expecting to get a Taurus or something similar. When hearing that I would be staying in Cascade Locks the rental agent said, "I'm going to bump you up to a Subaru at no extra cost, you might get a lot of rain and it's got AWD." So, apparently you now need AWD for rain, not just ice. Subaru marketing works well!

The 2005 Outback was quite nice as well, it's a huge step up from my 98 Legacy wagon. I didn't care for the way the e-brake dug into my right thigh or for the night lighting, but it drove and handled very well, and their newest version of that 2.5 boxer 4 is smooth and quiet.
