Thanks for your advice, I ended up removing the brake caliper, rotor, lower ball joint, outer tie-rod, axcel nut, in order to push the axcel out and have access to the 3-bolts holding the bearing unit in place.

Once the bolts were removed the bearing still did not want to come out. even with some slight perscussive persuasion.

I ended up then removing the entire spindle assembly from the strut and setting it on my work bench. A mechanic at a local shop told me over the phone to keep tapping on it and it will come out. His actual words were "Use a bigger hammer"

It finally came out and I cleaned up the corrosion and the new one slid right in.

The whole job took abour 3 hours.
