At first glance it resembles, favorably, an A4/9-3. The question is, why would you buy it over either of those cars? Or a 3-series, for that matter. Still, I don't see a lot of risk for GM here. It's a brand-engineered platform, after all.
Re Cadillac...my father had a 1964 CdV when I was growing up. What a magnificent car! Pale metallic blu with blue leather, full power, mild fins. Of course, gas was about 45 cents a gallon...
Soon after the first gen Eldo, Caddy really lost its way (along with most of the rest of GM), and to me, the only appealing model since then is the CTS.
If I had the money and the space, I'd buy a CTS-V, drive it for a year, store it for 20 years, then make a killing at auction. I really think it's going to be seen as a classic some day.
