Not sure about this but it seems plausible...
Chrysler had their little import Mitsubishi, called the Arrow.
It's pretty common for a car company to copyright alternate spellings to prevent someone else from getting 'too close' to their name. I'm guessing they copyrighted aero along with arrow.
I suspect that's the same reason why the Ford Sierra ('Merkur' XR4ti) wasn't called a Sierra in USA. vs. Olds Cutlass Cierra & some GM pickup named Sierra.
