Our '99 Discovery Series II with just over 50K on it has been a very good vehicle and has been in the shop way less than our 2000 9-5 SE wagon. Mileage is about 12 mpg city 18-19 highway. It delivers adequate power in the circumstances we have encountered. It also gets light off road duty.

Having said that, I would not recommend a used one unless it was certified by a dealer or at least get an extended warranty. Typically they are not maintained properly and there is much that can go wrong and it is costly.
