I was a very happy camper to see that BMW is joining Mercedes in bringing their excellent diesel engines to the US finally. I'm a big diesel fan, having driven many Euro diesels during business trips over there - Jag X Type 2.0D, Peugeot 406 HDi, Vauxhall Meriva 1.7CDTi, and probably the best, the Honda Accord 2.2 CDTi (Acura TSX shape here). Each one got between 40 and 45 mpg in the type of driving I was doing. (Imperial gallons that is).
I've already put my name on one of the first 335d's coming to LA, and will do European delivery. I will likely say goodbye to my 9-5 Aero at that point, but will still have my '06 9-3 Aero convertible.
I wish Saab would bring the 1.9TTiD Aero engine here, but that is unlikely, knowing GM. A 9-3 Aero 1.9TTiD convertible would be the perfect car!
So now I wait until October....and watch all the Youtube postings of the 335d in Europe. 0-60 in 6.2 secs and 33-35mpg highway...gotta love that!
Cheers,
Paul
