Run Flats Oops, my post. My Father has them on his Corvette, and I have talked to others who have run flats on cars at work (including a Mini cooper driver). The only advantage I can see is no spare tire. Yes, they tend to be louder on all cars. If it was an "option", I'd skip it. They are very expensive to replace, and if you get stranded in Timbuk3, they might not have the proper tools to change it. I personally think those kind of tires are a waste of money....
Then there was the customer at the tire store who was bellyaching about having to pay $350 to replace his run flat tire. The Salesman said "yes sir, that was a run flat tire... but you need to keep air in it anyway." I was standing in line listening, and smiling.
