Huh? I did a quick Google search and found that MB Idle Control Valves are priced not too differently than those for SAABs - see link. What they may be trying to sell you is an electronic box that controls the valve, in which case all bets on price are off - you should have some idea what a SAAB Engine Control Unit costs, MB electronic controls seem to be priced similarly.
Some shops will jump to replace the ECU without much diagnostic work, a pricey mistake; often times the fault (if there really is one) is a bad electrical connection. My brother brought his BMW to a dealer to diagnose an idle problem, they told him it was the ECU. Since then, he found a used unit at a junkyard - it's still sitting in his trunk, (uninstalled) and the idle problem has disappeared!
