and be willing to spend extra for something nicer when necessary.
Join National's Emerald Aisle. All the cars on it go for mid-size price and you have a better chance of getting something nice. The Aisle also has the "Executive Selection" which usually has some nice rides, although can be too heavy on the luxo-barges. I've gotten some nice rides from the Aisle. It's free to join, you bypass the rental counter and get dropped off first in the rental lot. It's first-come first-served, and the selection depends on the location.
Hertz has a "Fun Collection" which includes Mustangs and Corvettes. Haven't used it, but plan to the next time I'm not carrying a lot of gear. I think it sometimes requires advance reservations.
As for the Sonata, I rented one a while back. Yeah, pretty anemic with the 4 cylinder. I wasn't wild about the seats either, but I've sat in a lot worse... Camry's and Corollas, for example. The problem with owning Saabs is they kinda spoil you for all around performance. Am always glad to get back in my 9K.
