My employer has a discount rate on hybrids with Hertz, so whenever I travel, I'm either in an Altima Hybrid or a Prius. The Prius does change your driving style to try and irk out the best MPGs you can. At least it does for me.

The Altima is an excellent car overall, I have to say. The hybrid power is definitely stronger, it's seamless, and drives like a car, not an appliance.

That being said, I don't find hybrids that enjoyable to drive. I recently bought a 2010 BMW 335d to complement my 9-5 Aero wagon, and I have to say....if more Americans tried a diesel car, they'd buy one! The 335d may be the most sensible and best all around car I've ever owned (except that BMW won't bring it here in a wagon!). It has absolutely breathtaking power, and I get 25 mpg around town, and 36 on the highway. I'll happily take more driving pleasure for a few less MPGs.
