Our interest in SAAB is understandable, but sometimes lost is that Volvo has comparable problems and its future uncertain as well. What does this say about Sweden and the way its economy is organized? For me, I fell in love with Sweden in the 70's and I drove volvo's for many years (life saved in a P1800 after a high speed T-bone wreck on St. Patrick's day in 1982), but think the 200 series (and my 240) was its pinnacle and just haven't found something as comfortable and affordable and finally gave up after the punishing ride of the 850. I then switched to SAAB and had 3 9-5's since then, but then SAAB started stagnating. while there is a lot of technology in Volvo's, they just don't ride that well and seem very average for the cost. I never understood why they gave up on the 240. It's not just that Sweden is a small country; France can support 3 decent brands and Skoda and Seat are putting out some decent cars.
