I have a 944 Posted by Rod [Email] (#3128) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Rod) on Thu, 10 Jun 2010 09:24:01 In Reply to: Any Porschephiles out there?, Dan-O, Mon, 7 Jun 2010 17:45:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It's a 1989 944S2, and I like it very much.
$4,500 sounds like a good price if it's in good shape. If you've done any research at all on 944's you'll know that a recent timing belt and water pump are very positive selling points. Interference engines and rubber belts are a dangerous mix!
Other things to look for are whether the sunroof works (if you care), rear hatch release and look out for dash cracks.
These cars handle fantastically well. They are not particularly fast in a straight line by modern standards, but they have a perfect 50:50 weight distribution and corner like they're on rails.
Also look at the option codes - under the carpet at the back of the hatch area. Some desireable ones are M030 or 474 for uprated suspension and 220 for LSD.
