Something is definitely wrong. Like vkk says an errant airbag deployment is a SERIOUS problem. If your girlfriend had leaned forward to adjust the stereo or fix her shoe at the wrong moment, she could be dead. A sudden, unwarranted deployment of one airbag much less all the airbags is a Major Malfunction, and I would positively NOT replace them until the cause can be identified. These systems are highly engineered to continue to function properly under a wide range of less-than-optimal conditions. For a big failure like this to occur, something has to be pretty seriously wrong.
I'm with Swedecar - I would contact some Federal agencies, maybe a news station or Consumer Reports. Call one or two more dealers, maybe some in a big city or not in your immediate geographic area. You may get varying responses. Call ChryCo directly as well. Check around on Jeep forums to see if anyone else has had this happen.
I would either find the root cause of this, or park the thing in an empty parking lot and toss a match. Continuing to drive it seems unwise.
